What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was absolutely worthwhile. I had already spent a considerable amount of time in the UK, so did not necessarily learn much about the English. However I had a great time. The social life was amazing, and I made great friends that I have kept in touch with since then.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Easy classes, very little work, although the professors were interesting and engaged.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The apartment was average, but the full kitchen was great. Living with international students made the experience as amazing as it was.

* Food:

I generally cooked my own food or cooked with my flatmates. We were pretty good at cooking and made great group meals.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Nottingham is a renowned party school and city, and as a result was very fun in that regard.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt safe for the most part, although Nottingham is known throughout the UK for its crime rate.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Cooking for yourself or with a group is a good way to save money. Most money was spent on going out to pubs and clubs, as well as on travel.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Nottingham is a ton of fun. It is definitely a great place for someone who wants to party a lot without worrying about academics. The school is extremely easy, especially coming from William and Mary. While the weather isn't great and the academics aren't amazing, it is definitely a great place to study abroad. Its really easy to travel around the Uk and Europe from Nottingham. I wouldn't recommend it for someone who wants to go abroad for academics, or someone looking for an exotic location.
