Good and fun time in Nottingham! Past Review
By Juan Andrade-vera (Middlebury College) - abroad from 10/02/2017 to 01/27/2018 with
University of Nottingham: Nottingham - Direct Enrollment & Exchange
I learned how to live and experience the world on my own. It was very hands-off so I gained exposure on self-managing my workload.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Definitely weird being in a setting where many, if not most, students consistently miss lectures, but you eventually get used to the style of effort in Nottingham. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Overall, the staff were pretty good at addressing any concerns i had while there. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Everyone gets a single and it's much bigger than you'd think a dorm is. |
* Food: |
Some of the worst food I've had. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Go to soccer games; join a club/team because it's definitely worth it |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Really safe city. Felts comfortable getting back late into the night and just navigating the city in general. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
Middlebury shouldn't advertise this program as a program for financial aid students without funding the 30 days that we need to find housing for. incurred about 1000 dollars in expenses when I had to eat and sleep, not including travel to/from the places. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
It's a pretty expensive country but ultimately you could get by by spending very little if you stay on campus and eat dining hall food every day. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | 100. |
Language

The Academic or LinguistYou went abroad with specific academic goals in mind; the program credentials and rigor of your coursework abroad were very important to you. You had a great time abroad, but never lost sight of your studies and (if applicable) were diligent with your foreign language study. Good for you! |
