Nottingham: Great, but SAVE Past Review

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I would not recommend this program to those looking for a rigorous semester abroad because the course load is much less than at Middlebury, while still being difficult to attain great grades because your entire semester is dependent on one class. Additionally, the geography department was lacking in professionalism and basic knowledge of geographical principles: like knowing that Foucault was a man or what Euclidean distance is even though it is one of the basic GIS principle.

On-site administration of your program

There was no guidance in registering for classes other than my geography department contact and my friend who had already been at Nottingham.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Sherwood hall was more than adequate.

The food in the dining halls was quite bad but lunch options were really good.

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

My advice would be to go into the Uni clinic even if you are not registered with the NHS because they can help you much better than QMC.

I do not think the geography program was academically challenging enough.

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

If you wanted to go out or do anything, you would need to pay to attend. Uni clubs, dance clubs, the gym -- all were things you needed to pay for.
