The expectations for assignments were often unclear and varied a great amount between assignments. Some classes were extremely easy, while others graded assignments very strictly, without setting clear parameters for what they were asking for. |

You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |

| Comments: | This course was extremely challenging, not because of the material itself, but because of the way it was presented by the professor and the way the assignments were graded. The professor, James Flynn, is a world renowned psychologist in the field of race and class issues, which had me very excited to be in his presence. I quickly learned that, even though he was clearly a great mind in his field, his lectures were dry and repetitive. The other side of this course was the assignment. Other than the final exam (worth 60%), there was one 2000 word paper (worth 40%). This assignment is marked by a tutor. After getting this assignment back, I received many points off for unexplained reasons. After talking with others, the same thing seemed to happen to them. The class average was a 63%. My final issue with this class was that it was marketed as a Psychology course. In reality, it had very little to do with Psychology and was almost entirely a Philosophy/Sociology course. I would not recommend taking this course to other students coming to Otago |
