Oxford Literature Summer Program Past Review

By (Biotechnology, Tulane University) for

University of Oxford - Visiting Students

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I had a great time. I had spent time in the city of Oxford before, so the culture was not new. It was a great experience to spend such a prolonged time in a different country, though.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 1 month - 6 months

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Teachers and lecturers were amazing. The work load was not too extensive, and access to the University libraries was very nice as well.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The administration was very friendly and accommodating. They socialized with everyone and were extremely helpful in helping everyone have a good time in the city.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I had a very nice room, but not all rooms were the same size. Some people did not like their rooms.

* Food:

Great food. Accommodating to all dietary restrictions.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Many free museums in the town.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Clean city with restricted vehicular traffic. A lot of tourists, but not most of the problems that usually accompany them.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? This, and the sister History program, is an excellent chance to experience a different country and not worry about a serious language barrier. There are grad and undergrad courses, and all of the students are very unique and interesting individuals.
