Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The only strength of OPUS, I think, is its ability to provide students with chances to study in Oxford. Other than that, it has a lot of administrative troubles in supporting us on-site.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I am very dissatisfied with the housing that OPUS provided. It was located half an hour walking from the city center, also the center of the universities. The housing conditions were bad. For the first few weeks, there was not internet connection and we had to paid for wireless installation. Also, the house was not new and not well maintained.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 1000 pounds
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? If you go to UK, bring extra money because everything is more costly there.

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Individual Course Reviews

Course Name/Rating:

International Economics

Course Department: Economics Department
Instructor: Kiril Kossev
Instruction Language: English
Comments: This course was hard. I think it was partly because of Kiril's teaching style. Much of what I learned was through my reading books.

Course Name/Rating:

Economics of Developing Countries

Course Department: Economics
Instructor: Paula Heinonein
Instruction Language: English and French
Comments: I love her teaching style. She helped me a lot in improving my writing skills. However, since her native language is French, I had a hard time understanding her at first.
