Traveling Across China Past Review

By (Engineering, University of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh) - abroad from 05/07/2016 to 05/21/2016 with

University of Pittsburgh: China Plus3 Study Abroad Program, Hosted by the Asia Institute

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I gained a better ability to sympathize and understand people of different cultures. I think it's very easy to dismiss another person's action as weird or unusual, but when you look into why they act that way, it becomes much less strange. I've also gained a larger sense of adventure, and I know I'd like to travel abroad again!

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Most of the meals are covered, and the meals you have to pay for run less than 7-8 USD, often as low as 4-5 USD. Most of my money spent was on souvenirs.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $25

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Avid Adventurer
The wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal.
