University of Roehampton: London - Direct Enrollment & Exchange
Definitely had some culture shock and homesickness, but I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Grading system was difficult to get used to but if you ask the teachers they can explain it. Also asking the instructors of what they are asking for when writing ter, papers was essential for my study. Let them know you are an exchange student. They like to see that you are willing to make an effort. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
I wish San Jose State had more representatives from Roehampton. I had so many unanswered questions, and arrived some-what clueless on what to expect and how the school is run. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
I wish they would have made it more clear on where each dorm was locTed. At first I was placed in a dorm on campus, however, it was actually a mile a way. A map would have been useful. |
* Food: |
I was in a catered room, however, ASDA, the local grocery store is a great inexpensive place to buy food, and it is close to campus. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
My flat mates were amazing and I still stay in touch with them today. I also met some other exchange students from LA and I stay in touch with them as well. They have many social events for all students. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
|
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition? |
