Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I took Organic Chemistry 2, which is in and of itself a huge courseload, but the individual attention and small class size made it easier for the instructors to tailor their teaching to the students' learning styles. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
I was able to complete and understand the course material, and the program's administrators were easy to work with, especially in sending transcripts home. The program includes young advisors/leaders, who help students adjust to the new culture. Brighton is a fun and lively city, even if Falmer itself is slightly secluded. Travel, even outside of England itself, is highly encouraged. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
|
* Food: |
If you are used to spicy Mexican or Tex-mex food, do not eat it. Food is slightly blander, but pub food, burgers, and out-of-the way fish and chips shops are recommended. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I loved the ability to travel to London without a car, and that Brighton was lively (until about 2am). I definitely recommend going on the trips they arrange for students, but I also recommend traveling |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
Make sure that you get travel healthcare before you leave. There is a clinic on campus, but as a non-citizen of the country, you need your own healthcare. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Direct Enrollment/Exchange
* Did you study abroad through an exchange program or did you directly enroll in the foreign university? | Direct Enrollment |

A Look Back
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? | This program is short, but definitely worthwhile. Though I took a difficult courseload, it is definitely not necessary. If possible, take something interesting, but not time-consuming, so that you have time to travel. Also, stay the entire summer (both sessions) if possible. |
