Unforgettable Summer Past Review
By Alexandra Stephenson (The University of Texas at Austin) - abroad from 06/19/2017 to 08/11/2017 with
University of Sussex: Brighton - International Summer School
I will have lifelong friends that I would never have met otherwise and learned how to truly take care of myself so far from home. Hell yeah, it was worth it.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
|
* Host Country Program Administration

|
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
There are seagulls everywhere that prevent you from sleeping but otherwise the flats are nice. |
* Food: |
Make your own food if you want to save money. The food in the dining halls is mediocre at best, but restaurants are good if you're willing to pay a lot (after the exchange rate). |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
Everyone's really welcoming. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
I never had to deal with healthcare so I really can't give an accurate representation of how well they are addressed. |
* Safety: |
As a woman, I felt relatively safe. Just keep your head up and be aware of your surroundings, just as you would at home. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
I did so many things I never thought I'd do and met people from all over the world. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Nothing is cheap over there, especially after the exchange rate. If you want to buy or even make good food, you have to spend a lot. |

* Did you study abroad through an exchange program or did you directly enroll in the foreign university? | Direct Enrollment |
