What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was the most amazing and unique experience I've ever had. I know I'll never be able to do anything like it again just because of the place I'm at in my life. It taught me so much about the world but also about myself and what I had left behind at home.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

My classes were generally very enjoyable. They were very involved and challenging, but the professors were extremely knowledgable as well as personable.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I was very happy with where I lived except that there was no climate control; however, that's common in Australia so it isn't really a reflection on the apartments themselves.

* Food:

I loved living next to King Street, it had everything I ever wanted: cheap Thai, amazing gelatto, Italian, Mexican, awesome kabob stands, etc. I also loved shopping at Coles, the grocery store.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I really don't remember and I'm sure it varied widely, but be prepared to spend a LOT of money.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? There is no such thing as Walmart and you will be paying high prices for everything. Get used to drinking cheap wine. Try and eat at home as much as possible to cut down on dining expenses.

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Go. You will have the time of your life. Don't hang out with just other American students. I saw so much of the city that I never would have seen through my Aussie friends.
