About
Seville, Spain provides an ideal setting for putting evolutionary biology into an international and cultural context. This course looks at the natural history of the Iberian Peninsula, endemism, endangered flora and fauna, and the genetics of artificial selection with special reference to domesticated plants and animals important to Spanish society. Students also take a 3 credit course on Contemporary Spanish Culture and Society. The program will take various field trips throughout the region and cover the evolution of herbs, spices and food plants introduced into Spain from the Far-East and the New World as well as the domestication of Spanish fighting bulls and Andalusian horses. Students live with host family or in a "residencia".
