About
Through immersion in London city life and focused study on pressing issues, students deepen their understanding of social justice, experience the diversity and multicultural landscape of London, and explore the historical roots of social welfare and social work. On this Maymester, London is the classroom. Students visit social service agencies, places of religious worship, ethnic neighborhoods, and receive lectures by imminent scholars. Learning culminates in an in-depth project exploring a contemporary social justice issue in conjunction with local social service agencies.
Students complete the program with critical understanding of how the U.K. and the U.S. address pressing social challenges, and heightened awareness of the rights, responsibilities and actions of global citizenship in an increasingly global society.
