About

Dr. Thomas Connolly takes students to Barcelona to study a required course in engineering dynamics, explore real world engineering applications, and visit engineering companies and national laboratories to learn about the practice of engineering in Spain. Students will also be placed in a part-time industry immersion while they are studying. Barcelona is a vibrant city with a large manufacturing base, artistic engineering and architectural achievements. Students learn the fundamentals of kinematics and dynamics, as applied to particles and rigid bodies, and solve a broad variety of engineering dynamics problems using Newton's laws, energy methods, and momentum methods. The course concludes with an introduction to vibrations and computer methods.
