University of Texas - Austin: Prague - Prague Documentary Photography
This experience was very worthwhile. I learned a lot about myself, and got to make lots of friends. I got a chance to be more outgoing and to enjoy a different culture.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
This has been my favorite trip I have taken thus far. I loved taking lots of pictures with lots of people and Dr. Darling was so much fun! He was always available and was building us up with constructive criticism. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
Our program administration was very helpful and was very willing to hang out with us and help us with our projects. They were familiar and they were always a friendly English voice that I could hear. It took us a while to bond and begin to hang out, but it happened and it was a great experience. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
Our apartments were great. They were very comfortable and suited all of my needs. |
* Food: |
Czech food is mediocre. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
It was hard to make Czech friends because the Czech people didn't want to speak with Americans because they did not speak perfect English. However, when the people did they were pretty friendly. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
We were in a complex that was a very safe place, and when we were out at the most dangerous times we were in a big group. I don't think that there were many health concerns. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | No I wouldn't. |
Language
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |

Comments: | This was a great course. I never thought that I would be interested Czech History but Dr. Darling made the class very interesting. He provided the information that I wanted to hear, and I learned so much about the Czech Republic. The incorporation of photography was probably my favorite part, and helped me learn so much more Czech History. |

Comments: | This was an awesome class! It was so much fun to take in Prague! It was great having Dr. Darling to critique the pictures that we took and to guide us to all of the cool spots to take pictures. I learned a lot from this class, but I think I learned the most from the critiques of everyone's pictures. It was cool to see everyone shoot the same event, but see it in such different ways. |
