About
These classes are geared toward imparting knowledge about, and giving students experience with the ideas and design language that shaped historical buildings and cities. In the Italian setting, students will have the best classical examples to study. The sequence of courses will engage them in experiencing and analyzing the context not only as interesting historical artifacts, but also as sources for their work in the design studio. It will challenge them to learn the classical design language, then utilize and develop expertise with it. Through the careful observation required of a good sketch, students can learn directly from the buildings, streets, and plazas in the town and region.
