Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The overall educational experience was very free open environment but the faculty it felt like it they where all a little under prepared for study abroad students for example I was a year to student and unit six Ended after the study abroad program ended so I felt like I was rushed in my studio work and wasn’t able to create as much as I would like to have overall I enjoyed the open studio that they provided me along with the insight my tutor in Peers gave me

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Housing was in our away from my school so it was a little out-of-the-way but I felt like I got more exercise and got to see more of the city in that way and understand more of the underground and how public transportation worked.

* Food:

I felt like the food was fine overall there was more diverse options to choose from. Kind of expensive to eat out all the time

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I think that if at the beginning of the year they had a party for the host school and study abroad kids rather than just all of the study abroad kids together just because we most likely won’t be seeing each other again.i felt very disconnected from my class not very many people would engage outside of their pre-existing circle so I think if you create an event for study abroad students that are just with the other study abroad students that are going to be in general UAL but the specific university that they are going to it will help create more comfortability for other students

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I had gotten sick so when I went to the walk-in clinic I felt like it was very easy to get help

* Safety:

It’s a very crowded city kind of feels like a quite a New York I would say just don’t be out too late the Random people will talk to you and say strange comments but a good note a farmers create inside pockets and all your jacket scenes because no one will be able to get any of your stuff from inside your jacket (in the first week wallet was stolen)

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

I wouldn’t do the same program mainly because I felt like the faculty in my host university was so unprepared for me at the beginning and then at the end we finish so quickly in comparison and felt rushed in my work and I felt unproductive of to only be taking two units for the semester but also I got to experience the culture more in other cultures because of my schedule Sometimes the schedule would change on things that are mandatory per week which made it confusing I couldn’t plan as much things in advance for traveling for that reason as well though

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

$200 would last me at least two weeks sometimes I would say that the transportation between me going to school had a lot to do with why it cost so much for me per week

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I probably spent around $30-$60 a week on groceries
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I probably spent around $30-$60 a week on groceries
