What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes, I learned to be more patient and understanding of others and where they are coming from. You never know someone's story until you talk to them. Everyone is the same in some ways and cultures are beautiful things that should be protected and embraced.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I found the grading here a bit easier, you would have to not try at all to fail something.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

negative experience with accommodation at Unicentral- not very good management: smoke alarms went off every night for no reason, office did not like to compromise (for example: our power was shut off while we were on break and no one was there, all the food spoiled and they felt it wasn't their fault and we shouldn't be compensated for it.)

* Food:

the milk here did not mix well with my stomach so I had to switch to soy

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? about 40 a week on groceries 10-20 for going out 10 for random household things
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? it's okay to splurge every now and then but have a budget

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Be open to everything! Someone who likes rather smaller classes and more individual time with teachers. You can very easily access other parts of this country from the Sunny Coast- there's an airport just in town.
