Our substantive learning objectives are:
- To understand the concepts of interpersonal, intercultural, and historical violence and trauma.
- To understand in comparative context the different levels and types of violence in both the US and Ghana.
- To understand how cultural constructions and understandings of gender are related to experiences of violence.
- To learn about the history of interpersonal, intercultural, and historical violence in Ghana
- To learn about the slave trade and the Diaspora;
- To learn how Ghana has been striving to respond to the aftermath of all forms of traumatic events
Additionally, our goal will be:
- To deepen our appreciation of Ghana, Ghanaians, and our shared heritage.
