Valencia, European Erasmus Capital Past Review
By Thomas W (Business/Corporate Communications., The University of Texas at Austin) for
University of Valencia: Valencia - Direct Enrollment & Exchange
Definitely was worth my time and money, although if I had the chance to do it all over again in Valencia I would prefer to be at the other university school, Politecnica as it is regarded as the better university to study at and has more students studying abroad there than University of Valencia.
Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 1 month - 6 months |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I feel that I learned much more outside of the classroom, interacting with peers, friends and other adults versus that which I learned in the classroom. However, I feel this is the case with most study abroad experiences. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
|

|

|
* Safety: |
safety was totally dependent on the individual, the university didn't offer much besides a health office that was only open limited hours and only on weekdays. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
No
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | the exchange program is much more affordable than any of the affiliated studies programs offered in europe |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | Intermediate |
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? | Spanish Civilization |

|
Language acquisition improvement? |
my roommates didn't know any english so I could practice with them, I used spanish (host country language) the majority of the day to interact. Valencia has a lot of european study abroad students (erasmus) and the majority of them were able to speak english so my experience wasn't 100% in Spanish, about 75%. |
