I gained a different perspective in education and life, especially Maori and it is related to Hawaiian. I feel a greater appreciation of being Hawaiian and in whole, Polynesian. My academic interests now focuses more towards a Maori/indigenous perspective, keeping in mind my Hawaiian background. I plan to obtain my PhD from Waikato.

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
Workload wise, was not that heavy. All the assignments are listed in the course outline with the points and grading for each assignment. Teaching methods were generally the same, very effective with the use of powerpoints and technology. The classrooms are real lecture rooms. Every paper (class) has a writing component towards the course. Education standards are high. |

Traveling around with other international friends, particularly from Hawaiʻi around Aotearoa New Zealand. Attending various meetings on the marae. Some days would spend with family. |

Iʻve been studying Maori for 2 years now, and it was awesome to interact with Maori people who speak Maori. To learn the way they speak and the flow of their language is important. |
