The Uni. of Westminster showed me the art world of London Past Review
By Kristopher S (Studio Arts, DePauw University) for
University of Westminster: London - Study Abroad Semester or Year with an Optional Internship
In London, I gained such an appreciation for the arts moreso than I had before. It taught me not to be scared in my field and that I can do anything.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
One thing that I really miss is the access I had to photography and lighting equipment. I was able to work with high-end professional equipment that I cannot get at DePauw. I could buy it but it would cost a fortune. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The program advisers were always there to help and I saw them around campus a lot. The only thing I would say is that grades take a long time to be back. Still don't have mine. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
My living situation was great. I had a single with my own bathroom. Sharing the kitchen area got a little messy. Would have liked to have a social area to relax. |
* Food: |
Had to cook for myself. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
I really enjoyed going to Gallery openings the first-Thursday of every month. It was such a scene in the east Boroughs of London. Also, the pup scene after work was very enjoyable and entertaining. Great way to meet locals. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
|
* Safety: |
I did not experience any health or safety issues in London. I had friends who got sick and they said that the health services at my Uni were very helpful. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
|
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $300-$500 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Transportation - As easy and great it was to use, it was more expensive than I thought. |
Language
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | None |
