What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned soooo much from this trip. How to leave home and move to another place. How to live in the big city. How to be independent. I expanded my learning with classes and real life skills. It was an experience I will always look back on and miss.

My professor in the second session did not attend the first day or last week and gave us little to no explanation which was odd.

Living in Shoreditch was wonderful. There was so much art and culture and it was an area of London I wouldn't have otherwise gone.

I felt safe where I was.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

The program was wonderful. 6 weeks was enough time to feel like I had really lived in London. If I could afford a longer trip I would, though.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Money was mostly spent on food. The oyster card is expensive so I got a monthly pass and stopped worrying about it. Any big city is expensive, but London definitely is.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Around $75 if I cooked for myself for breakfast and lunch and ate out once. Around $150 if I ate out more than once a day.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Buy groceries! Cook for yourself sometimes. Don't spend a lot on going out as that is one of the most expensive things to do in London.

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • the food
  • the city environment...London itself
  • meeting new people and having new experiences
* What could be improved?
  • Westminster should set up our emails and accounts before we arrived...this was a huge hassle
  • I never got my abroad shirt
  • lower cost would always be nice
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I had a concept on just how much this would cost because it was expensive. Everything was amazing on this trip but there were people that go to my university back home in my same program and dorms and my school never let me know about this, would be nice to know in advance.

Comments: This course is amazing!!! It was challenging and taught me so much about photography. It took me out to see the city in ways/places I would not have seen it otherwise. I learned so much from these professors. They are wonderful instructors, people, and photographers! Class was sometimes long but always worthwhile. We were assessed with a blog which was a new form of assessment for me. I really enjoyed everything about this course.
