What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I feel so much more indpendent now that I have travelled on my own in a foreign country. Your view of the world widens greatly and you realize how big the world really is. People across the world are all very similar, and yet at the same time so different. I realized how many things I really take for granted at home because I was without them for a whole semester. I'm very interested in going abroad again in the future.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It was often hard to focus on school work because there were so many things to do and see around Edinburgh, and that was much more interesting than doing homework inside. But there was also the learning that occurred outside of the classroom, just with the different culture and new experiences.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Lived in an old palace that was a sort of dorm set up.

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Make sure you are always checkingthe exchange rate. Also, always take a lot of cash out of the ATMs at one time, and leave most of it at home. You won't be charged as many withdrawl fees if you do this often. And you should never cary large amounts of cash on you, in case you get pick-pocketed.
