What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I would do some things over again now that I've had the experience, but I don't regret going.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Different, but better teaching system. I thought I would hate pass/fail but I actually enjoyed it more. Foreign education is much better.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Very helpful. Alot of bureaucracy, but once you get through it everything works.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

No problems. Allows you to be very independent.

* Food:

Food is expensive, but quality. Takes some management

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Plenty to do. Don't hang out with a bunch of Americans, meet a lot of foreign people. Everyone got along very well and it didn't take long for everyone in Uppsala to become connected in some way.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

The biggest pain was dealing with insurance, since I wasn't on the Swedish system. Taking care of health is never really an issue.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? I spent between 200-300 dollars a week for food. Sweden is very expensive and takes alot of management.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Keep track of finances, there are plenty of ways to eat on a budget. It's not easy, but with careful management you can do fine.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? none
Language acquisition improvement?

Direct Enrollment/Exchange

* Did you study abroad through an exchange program or did you directly enroll in the foreign university? Exchange
