A student studying abroad with USAC: Pau - French Language and European Studies
Yes!! I learned how to take care of my own loans and financing, I became more confident in speaking French and with new people in general, I made tons of great friends, and I learned how to overcome obstacles in my life. I always loved European history but the language was never something I loved or thought I could speak until I... - University of North Dakota View Entire Review
Yes, learned a lot about the language, culture. All of Europe is easy to travel to. - University of the Pacific View Entire Review
YES. This experience has truly helped me grow as a person and grow in my language skills. I now know what I want to do with my life and where I want to do it. - University of the Pacific View Entire Review
I loved every second of it. - Miami University of Ohio View Entire Review
It's been two years since I studied in Pau and it still feels like yesterday. I met some great people there, two of which I traveled around Europe with again after graduation. I added an international business focus to my major upon returning from abroad, and I am still actively learning French! :) - California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo View Entire Review
It wasn't USAC I didn't like. I just don't really get along well with the French people overall. Studying abroad fufilled all my stereotypes instead of banishing them. I was happy to come home and I would love to go back and visit France, but I would never live there again (unless I lived in Paris). View Entire Review
In living and learning abroad, I found myself taking part in a completely new lifestyle. Although I had previously lived independently, attended a university, worked, and enjoyed friends, doing each of these things in a different country will most certainly evoke a differnt affect. As I have found among others that were in my pr... - University of the Pacific View Entire Review
It was absolutely worthwhile and amazing! It did not, however, change my future academic plans and/or interests. - University of the Pacific View Entire Review
Past Review I Love France!

YES IT WAS! I hope I could turn back time and do it all over again! - University of the Pacific View Entire Review
First of all, it improved my language capabilities tremendously. Secondly, it forced me out of my comfort zone and into a new world. This was uncomfortable and a little shocking at first, but I kept an open mind, a positive attitude and discussed my feelings with other students. It's important to remember that everyone is exper... - University of North Carolina - Charlotte View Entire Review

My study abroad program was very worthwhile. I am now aware of how another country lives and what they value in their life, which is different than what we value, in the US. I gained a positive knowledge about a group of people that have a negative light in the US. They were very nice and helpful with me. My French language ... - University of Idaho View Entire Review
The life was difficult due to the transition I had to make (in US, living with the food I love, the TV i enjoy at home, internet, and daily routine and services provided to in pau, france, no/limited TV, minimal time for internet (it is in the school library, closes at 6 I believe), plus your food is limited (unless you have a h... - Michigan Technological University View Entire Review

About

The Pau program offers a unique opportunity to study the French language intensively, take courses in other disciplines, and to experience student life and culture at a French university. Pau is the perfect environment if you are looking to immerse yourself into traditional French culture while enjoying an active student culture as well. The city is in one of the most breathtakingly beautiful regions in France—the most visited country in the world—with parks and mountains surrounding the campus and city. The city is small enough to have everything within walking or biking distance; however it’s large enough to have several theatres, student clubs, outdoor cafes, and fantastic shops. Students can choose to study for a semester, a full year, or during the summer in one or both of the offered sessions. The Pau program offers an intensive language approach that allows you to complete up to one and a half years of university language coursework in one semester. Additional courses in subjects such as literature, political science, film, culture, and art history are offered and taught in English or French, depending on the semester. The program allows for students to enroll in integrated courses with other international students studying at the University of Pau, as well as with other USAC students.
