Tons of fun, not worth the money Past Review

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I only met other Americans in the program, and didn't have a ton of time to really explore the city or country. However, I would still take part in it if I could do it over again.

  • Meeting new people
  • Exploring a new city and culture

  • Courses (especially in regards to relevance to the course description)
  • Transportation to the airport
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Currency exchange rates and the commission that is sometimes charged; the best way to get to the airport, and times that it is available (I ended up spending over 3 times more than I should've going to the airport because my card wasn't compatible with the self-service ticket stations and there were no clerks working to sell train tickets)

Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
