Voyager Europe: Traveling Summer Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I had never been to Europe before, so I had no idea what to expect from the program. I didn't know anyone going into it. But, after this trip I would say I gained a knowledge of Europe that I couldn't have gotten in another program. Also, I have gained a group of friends that I know I will keep in contact with as we all became a close knit family with all of the traveling we did. I was able to learn about the different cultures of many countries across Europe through social interactions with the locals not just by learning in a class or something like that.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

One of my favorite things about this abroad program was the amount of interaction we had with the local culture. We were able to interact with the locals and learn from them about their culture.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I would recommend saving more than you think. You don't want to miss out on an opportunity, because you spend money on a pair of shoes you don't necessarily need while you were at home. Although, not everything is super expensive. It is able to thrive across Europe on a student budget if you manage your money.

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • traveling to so many different countries in one trip
  • doing what the locals did for meals or activities
  • food
* What could be improved?
  • The only thing I would improve on is the transition from place to place from city to city or country to country to make it more fluid.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? That no matter what you do Europe is going to be what you make of it, so go into any abroad program with a complete open mind.
