Personal Information
How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? | 1 month - 6 months |
Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I knew a little bit of Greek going into the program, so the Greek Language class came a little bit easier to me, but I still did learn quite a bit in terms of grammar and some new vocab. |
* Host Country Program Administration
On-site administration of your program |
The school building is extremely close to the apartments the students live in, which is very convenient in terms of being able to contact the administrators. They would go home in the evenings, but were available to help with anything during the day/during the school hours. |
* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
The apartments had beds, desks, chairs, a kitchen, a bathroom and a washing machine. The program directors even provided a little bit of food at the beginning of the trip which was extremely convenient and generous of them. |
* Food: |
There is a kitchen and a few different convenient stores within walking distance, as well as lots of affordable restaurants also within walking distance |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
We were staying in apartments that were a 10 or less minute walk to a lot of super popular tourist and local areas. I also took the Art and Archaeology class and the teacher took us to a few different museums that were super interesting. |
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
I did not need any health care during the trip but lots of information was provided to us about how to access it should we need it. |
* Safety: |
I can't really think of any specific instances where we were not safe, although everyone suggested staying in a group since it is a new place, which definitely helps. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Grocery shopping and cooking would definitely have been more economical, but there are plenty of affordable street food options. |
Language
* Did your program have a foreign language component? | Yes |
How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
There were plenty of stores and restaurants around the location we were staying, which provided a really great opportunity to practice. |
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? | Beginner |
How would you rate your language skills at the end of the program? | Intermediate |
How many hours per day did you use the language? |
