About
Global aging represents one of the most important health care challenges for developed countries. The wellbeing of older persons is highly dependent on systems of care and committed providers, but also on the broader cultural mileau. This 3-credit elective explores growing old in a cross-cultural context comparing the U.S. and Ireland/N. Ireland. During the 10 day study abroad students will visit clinics, long-term care sites, interact with elders in the community and participate in the classroom at the University of Ulster in Belfast. In addition, students will engage in various cultural activities such as visiting the Giants Causeway and Dunluce Castle.
