About

Students in the WMU Special Education Program have the unique opportunity to intern teach in Germany and UK through a long-standing agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense Schools.  Internships last for 15 weeks during both the fall and spring semesters, enabling student interns to experience European culture while earning 14 academic credits each semester. Interns teach on a military base where the student population consists primarily of American military children.

"This semester has been amazing at Liberty Intermediate School. I have learned so much from this experience abroad, and in a DODEA school system. I will take back many memories, and experiences that have encountered while I was here. Overall, I have learned most about myself, as a teacher, and what it takes to be in a whole new environment, with all of your friends and family thousands of miles away from you. I have learned there is a sense of community, that is stronger than I could have ever thought at this school, and on every base here in England." - Tracy Broadhurst, Study Abroad Alumna, United Kingdom
