A nice break but still with academic rigour April 06, 2026

Worcester College, University of Oxford - Visiting Students Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Studying abroad at Oxford was absolutely worthwhile. What I gained most was the experience of being pushed into a much more independent and intellectually demanding academic environment. The tutorial system taught me how to think more rigorously, write with greater precision, and defend my ideas in conversation with people who were often operating at a very high level. It made me more confident not only in my academic abilities, but also in my ability to adapt quickly to unfamiliar and challenging settings. Beyond academics, living abroad taught me a great deal about independence and perspective. I learned how to navigate a new country, a different institutional culture, and a very international social environment. Being at Oxford also exposed me to people from a wide range of backgrounds and ambitions, which made me reflect more seriously on my own goals and the kind of intellectual and professional life I want to build.
