WSU Faculty-Led Italy: First Generation Abroad

"First Generation Abroad is an exclusive opportunity for first-generation college students at Washington State University to gain the global skills necessary for today’s competitive workforce! Students whose parents have not graduated from a 4-year college or university are invited to join First Generation Abroad in Rome, Italy in Summer. Priority consideration is given to participants in the following programs: College Success Foundation, First Scholars, Lead the Legacy, Passport to College Scholars, Smart Start, TRiO Student Support Services.
Students will be accompanied by their program advisors at CEA in Italy's capital city and live with other WSU First-Generation Abroad students in apartments! In addition to trips to art museums, visits to the Coliseum, Vatican city, and some of the most beautiful and historic cultural sites in the world, students will earn six college credits.  Learn valuable global skills in our Critical Perspectives on Italy: Contemporary Culture & Society class which satisfies a WSU UCORE requirement, and Angels, Demons & Artists in Rome: Art through the Ages. One of the benefits of study abroad is the opportunity to explore the curriculum beyond the classroom and participate in active learning. Both in and out of class, students are encouraged to explore the city and draw connections between their first-hand observations and the subjects they are studying. Both courses include active learning components, such as site visits and entrances to museums."
