About
Quito, at 2,800 meters above sea level in the Andes Mountains of Ecuador enjoys a mild, spring-like climate all the year round. It is renowned for its Historic Old Town, where colonial churches, chapels, monasteries, and convents can be found. Quito was invaded by the Incas in the 15th and 16th Centuries and then by the Spanish.
Cuenca, located in the south of Ecuador is another town with a striking and well-preserved historic colonial center. It is a more tranquil city with its indigenous roots still more visible day to day.
The Yanapuma Spanish School has two locations - in Quito and in Cuenca, where it offers top-quality Spanish language tuition based on the "communication methodology" favored by the renowned Cervantes Institute of Spain. Aside from regular individual or small group Spanish classes there is the "Quito Cultural" and "Cuenca Cultural" program that combines 20 hours of Spanish in the classroom with visits to places of historical and cultural interest with a teacher around both these fascinating cities. This is a real immersion experience, combining regular Spanish tuition with more cultural and touristic pursuits.
In addition, there is the "Volunteer Quito" and "Volunteer Cuenca" program that combines Spanish classes with volunteering in any of several projects in each city.
Yanapuma also offers two Medical Spanish Programs for those in the health sciences, as well as programs that specialize in other professional areas. Homestays are available with selected host families in both cities, providing comfortable private rooms with breakfast and evening meal and wifi connection.
Yanapuma Foundation is a non-profit NGO dedicated to promoting sustainable development in indigenous and marginalized communities in Ecuador and the income from our Spanish schools contributes to this development work.
