Yonsei University: Yonsei International Summer School
I learned a lot about Korean culture, especially about Korean cinema, and a little bit of Korean. It was basically a meaningful experience in my life. It was worthwhile.
Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The courses are interesting, beneficial, and reasonably challenging and intense. There are lots of resources (ex. professors and the library). But the program is more useful and enjoyable if you at least have some understanding and appreciation of the local culture. |

The only annoying thing is the payment process: I had a problem to pay the tuition fee with a credit card and the wire transfer thing was really annoying. |

* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
It was ok. The housing was assigned based on nationality which has its good side and bad side. The price was lower than other good places but higher than some local houses. |
| * Food: |
If you don't eat spicy food like me, this is the reasonable rating you give, because most food is hot so it takes time and money to find something not spicy or you would live on the convenience stores. But living on the convenience stores is not that bad sometimes since the convenience stores are really convenient. |

* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
On one side I felt integrated mainly because I'm also Asian. On the other side, I didn't really integrate because most people I interacted with are not Korean so I didn't feel the need to integrate sometimes. |

* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
I only had a small issue with my knee because I was previously injured. The healthcare was accessible, but it's only really helpful if you have enough money, so it wasn't that helpful for me. |
| * Safety: |
I felt safe on-campus and near campus. I feel a little bit unsafe when I went to other places alone but I never really encountered any incidents. |
| If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
I liked it. |
Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
I have a relatively low budget, so I definitely didn't need $100 per week, but I didn't feel easy to live on my budget. |

How much did the program encourage you to use the language?
0 = No encouragement, 5 = frequent encouragement to use the language |
All the official announcements and classes were in English, and you didn't have to use Korean to live. But there were times that people only use Korean and it's good to know a little bit of Korean. In that way, you are sort of encouraged to learn a little bit of Korean. |

| Comments: | It was interesting and reasonably challenging. The professor asked for a visit to a Korean cinema which was kind of like a relevant field trip. The professor was knowledgeable and well-prepared. I really liked the class and went to every single class provided. The final grade was given based on attendance and class participation, a midterm paper, a final exam, and two extra credit opportunities. |
