Benedictine College offers a signature semester abroad in Florence, where students live and study in a historic villa overlooking the Tuscan hills. This immersive program uses the city as a living classroom, blending academic courses with excursions to Rome, Assisi, Siena, and Montecassino. Students typically earn 15 credits, with classes that include Italian language study, interdisciplinary courses led by Benedictine faculty, and explorations of art, history, faith, and culture. The program fosters personal growth, aesthetic appreciation, and a strong sense of community in keeping with the Benedictine tradition.
In addition to its Florence program, Benedictine College offers a variety of international learning opportunities. Semester- and year-long exchanges allow students to study at partner institutions in countries around the world, with academic credit transferred toward their degrees. Short-term programs, including faculty-led courses, summer study, mission trips, language immersion, and internships abroad, provide flexible options to fit students’ schedules and academic goals. With guidance from the Study Abroad office, students can plan experiences that align with their studies, take advantage of available financial aid, and make the most of their time abroad.
