Boston University is a program provider offering 41 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad and Internship abroad programs in 9 countries such as The United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, and France.
At Boston University, global learning is at the heart of our mission to prepare students for meaningful impact in an interconnected world. Through BU Study Abroad, we offer one of the largest and most diverse portfolios of university-run international programs in the United States. With more than 80 programs in over 20 countries, our students have the opportunity to live, learn, and engage in communities across six continents.
Our programs are academically rigorous and designed to align with students’ fields of study. Many of our signature offerings integrate classroom learning with practical experience through internships, research placements, and service opportunities abroad. Whether it’s studying public health in Geneva, completing a film production internship in Los Angeles, or exploring global business in Shanghai, students gain real-world experience while earning BU credit.
In addition to our international sites, we offer domestic study away programs in cities like Washington, D.C., New York, and Los Angeles—providing further flexibility and professional development options. All BU Study Abroad programs are supported by dedicated staff, both on campus and in-country, to ensure that students receive the academic, cultural, and personal support they need for a successful experience.
As a global research institution, we are committed to helping students expand their perspectives, challenge assumptions, and develop the skills needed to thrive in today’s global landscape. At Boston University, studying abroad isn’t just about travel—it’s about transformation.

Study Abroad with Boston University
"Gosh I learned so much about myself, my country, and how Australia and the USA fit into the global community. I can't believe I ever questioned whether or not to study in Australia. I have also studied in Europe (traveling to 9 countries there) and my Australian experience outdid them all hands down."
Rachel S Fordham University
"I learned how much more of an effort it takes to learn a language than the lackadaisical approach that I had taken in the past. It was a worthwhile experience, especially the internship."
A student Brandeis University
"This experience was very worthwhile as I was exposed to a city that I had only read about quite a few times in my international relations courses and in my extra curricular activities. it was therefore good to experience the international Geneva that I had always read about."

"It was definitely worth while. I felt more comfortable living with American students but also got to interact with locals through my internship. I also enjoyed my classes, and learned things about the British culture through them as well."

"Living abroad taught me how narrow my scope of the world was before I came to Sydney, and I loved all the experiences I had and the people I met. The lifestyle and environment is completely different, and I hope I can go back again one day!"
Aanchal C Boston University
"I really enjoyed the experience - we must have been to every museum in London and we also managed to get to other places in England and to France and Italy The most valuable thing I got from my program was probably the internship experience at a law firm, which is hard for undergrad students to get in the US. "
Katy B Trinity University
"Most of what I learned was due to my internship at a small social media public relations company. My coworkers were fantastic and really made me feel like a part of the family. They took very good care of me, and going to work was one of the best experiences of my life. "
