Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.
Study Abroad with Direct Enrollment/Exchange
"It was completely worthwhile and what I gained from it is further confidence in my independent actions and learning how to travel functionally since that's a big part of exploring Europe. "
A student University of Southern Maine
"So much. I learned more than I ever expected--I got a whole new perspective on life, friendships, and academia, as well as, dare I say it, other cultures. I had done a lot of international traveling before this experience, but have never felt culture shock like I did when i first arrived for study abroad...and never felt like I ..."
A student Barnard College
"I learned a lot about different cultures and learned to be more independent. I think I also gained more confidence in myself after studying abroad and learned a lot about myself. It was very worthwhile and I would do it all over again if I could."
A student Illinois State University
"I learned more about myself as a person. About what I am willing to do and try. And I learned so much about the French culture and language that I feel doesn't or can't exist in a classroom. It was definitely worthwhile."

"Studying abroad literally opened up a whole new world for me. It was definitely the experience of a lifetime. A student University of Hawaii - Manoa
"It was worthwhile. I've learned that being independent doesn't necessarily mean that you can exist without social interaction. And as much as an 'easy A' in academics might seem nice, it gets quite boring after a while."

"I learned a ton about Israel and how to speak Hebrew. I learned all about culture other cultures aside from mine. I learned not only about the local culture, but about the cultures of my fellow students as well."

A student Providence College

Kari R University of Hawaii - Manoa
"I really found my independence on this experience! I don't know very many other people my age that can say they traveled Europe without their parents and with their best friends AND had a blast by the time they were 21! Study Abroad, please, you will kick yourself later in life if you pass it up! "
Julia H Westminster College, MO
"In addition to experiencing the culture in which I found myself, I certainly gained confidence as an individual in managing my finances and personal affairs, befriending and interacting with other people, and ultimately stepping out of my comfort zone. "
A student Presbyterian College
"Absolutely worthwhile. New perspective. New culture. Rome is an incredible city and JCU does a good job making sure study abroad students get the most out of the semester. My complaints about Housing are unlikely to happen again, although they definitely made my experience worse."
