Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1872 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, Venezuela, The United Kingdom, and Ireland.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.
Study Abroad with Direct Enrollment/Exchange
"I learned so much about Māori and New Zealand culture. I also learned about some ways in which the United States can improve, especially in education."
A student Wellesley College
"It was absolutely worthwhile. Not only was I able to study and live with local students, I was able to travel to cities in the UK and Europe. It was incredible learning about the English culture, and I would do it all over again if I could!"
A student University of Maine - Orono
"This study abroad was most definitely worthwhile. The friendships, time management, and travel skills I learned while I was abroad are irreplaceable. I also learned a lot from my courses. The opportunity to be integrated into a culture and to experience life on the other side of the ocean was unbelievable and will rank as one of..."
A student University of Maine - Orono

Mackenzie Joy University of Maine - Orono
"I learned how to live on my own, cook for myself, make friends in a foreign country, travel on my own and manage my own expenses. This was also especially worthwhile because of all the free access to museums. "
A student Wellesley College
"I gained a work ethic. I gained a sense of how to assert myself against hard-headed powers to get basic information that I needed. On a positive note, I gained some life-long friends as well. Overall, I would say the friendships and travel experiences made it worthwhile, but the biggest drawback was the university itself."
A student Birmingham-Southern College
"I learned I can travel by myself (definitely recommend). "
Rachael The University of Texas at Austin
"Absolutely, it was filled with personal growth and new experiences."

Samantha Muller Wellesley College
"I learned a lot about independence and providing for myself. I also learned lots in all three of my classes, and from the friends I made. It was very worthwhile. "

"I learned about North African culture and Moroccans and their government. That just because they don't live in a democracy doesn't mean they want to overthrow their king and/or don't have human rights and acceptable living standards. "
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I gained a lot of independence, especially from traveling alone. The experience pushed me out of my comfort zone, and it was definitely worthwhile."
A student Middlebury College
"My trip abroad was extremely worthwhile. I found it fascinating to live in a city so different from my own. I felt I learned a lot in the process of adjusting to a new culture and being outside of my comfort zone. "
A student Swarthmore College
"I learned how to adapt to another culture and live on my own in a country where English is not the native language or spoken by all of the citizenry. It was definitely worth it. "
A student Rollins College
"The clinical portion of this program was great. Other than that, I think there's a huge need for improvement from both sides (wellesley and jacobs) in informing students of what will be provided and what won't be. There is serious improvement needed on Jacobs' side in terms of supporting their international students that I did n..."
A student Wellesley College
"I've learned to interact more with my tutors and to manage my work better. "
A student Wellesley College

"I gained a much better understanding of the culture and history of Europe, as well as other countries' views of the U.S., which were very interesting. Definitely worthwhile to get to experience new countries that are so different from the U.S."
A student Middlebury College
"I learned a great deal about countries that were not England, as I only interacted with international students all semester. That was certainly the most rewarding aspect of the semester, and I am so glad I had the chance to study abroad for that reason. Did not learn a great deal in my classes. Became much better at managing log..."
A student Middlebury College
