Everything we do is about the IES Abroad student.
Created in 1950, we believe in crafting unforgettable, life-changing educational adventures that go beyond our students' expectations. Every year about 6,500 study abroad students choose IES Abroad for their authentic study and intern abroad experience.
Our work starta in our Chicago headquarters and spreads across more than 130 study abroad programs in more than 30+ locations worldwide. With this network, we develop authentic global education and life-affirming cultural experiences. We believe that studying abroad should be a part of every student's academic life, and we aim to not only provide study abroad opportunities, but to consistently maintain a friendly, fun, and safe academic and cultural environment.
We believe so firmly in the power of our academically superior programs, that we actively recruit students from diverse populations and pledges more than $5 million in scholarships year after year. We are proud that our students are as diverse and exciting as the countries we study.
Through IES Internships, we offer a variety of full-time semester and summer internships in 15 locations around the world. For more than 40 years, we've provided opportunities to intern in some of the world's most exciting cities. With IES Internships, you'll have a guaranteed placement, more on-the-job hours, dedicated assistance with résumés and interviewing skills, and the ability to network with other students.
How will study abroad redefine you? We can't wait to find out.

Study Abroad with IES Abroad
"My experience was SO worthwhile. If I had the chance to do it all over again, I definitely would. I learned how to plan a trip, how to cook my own meals, how to create a successful and healthy daily routine and so many other things. I learned so much about myself and how to survive independently in a new, foreign location. "
Jessie D Connecticut College
"For me, the real experience was in walking along the Thames in the evening, meeting a movie star at the London Film Festival in Leicester Square, riding the Piccadilly Line to get to a theatre production of Once on Shaftesbury Avenue, sketching in the National Gallery, hearing someone say ‘Cheers!’ when I sign a receipt at Nando..."
Carly S Hope College

"The first couple of weeks I was there the most challenging part was to find my way around, remembering how to get from the building I was hosted at to school, to the groceries stores, or to restaurants; being used to a small university campus, I found it relatively hard to live in a very busy city. This experience however turned..."

"Learned a lot about the EU, but a lot more about myself than I expected. The program was good, with some flaws. Overall enjoyable, and I would recommend it to a student strong academically. "

"I learned how to be confident in my Spanish, about a totally new culture, and how to see the world with new eyes. Living my entire life in America gave me a narrow perspective on the world and now I feel like I understand people, culture, and the world better. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT! "

"The program was extremely informational and educative. I learned a lot from the classes that I took and I think that in general, the people on my program were highly knowledgeable as well. "My favorite thing about IES Rome was the amount of field studies incorporated into our daily classes. At least 3 times a week, our professors would take us to a site in Rome for a two hour class on what we were seeing. I saw museums, monuments, archeological sites, and even villas all during class time. Seeing the typical sites ..."

"Nantes is a beautiful city and I think a great place to study abroad if your goal is to improve your language skills. While people do speak English to you on occasion, I found it to be true far less in Nantes than in other areas of France. Living in a host family is a key part to this program. The opportunity to take classes at ..."
