IFSA's affiliated universities abroad are at the top of their countries rankings. All of our programs include events and excursions exclusively for our students throughout the semester. IFSA has program offices and full time staff in each country where we have programs. Our staff provide everything from detailed on-site orientations to academic guidance to emergency assistance. Our program fees guarantee housing. Once you finish your study abroad program, Butler University will process your official transcript with grade and credit translations at no additional cost. IFSA was founded in 1988. We have more than three decades of experience, longevity and reliability!
Study Abroad with IFSA
"This experience was worthwhile and a treasure I will always cherish. I learned a new found sense of independence, a passion for travel and gained new friends. "
Grace Littner Saint Joseph's University
"My Spanish definitely improved a lot. I wouldn't say it was worthwhile necessarily. "
A student Middlebury College
"It was super worthwhile, I learned a lot about different cultures and people. I also learned how to be more independent both in living and in traveling."
Nathan Kruger Whitman College
"The ease of the courses allowed me to study subjects that interested me. Living in a beautiful country, such as Chile, allowed me to write more. Due to the lack of resources, such as English books or a completely different public transport system, I learned how to be self-sufficient, fluid, and relaxed as a 'gringo' backpacker. ..."
A student Colorado College
"I gained a better perspective on the world while abroad, I became more responsible and independent as an individual and now don't have to rely on others as much. It was absolutely worthwhile and gave me so many great memories. "
Gabrielle O'Brien Hamilton College
"I gained a lot more independence. By the end of the semester I could live and travel completely by myself, I felt totally self-sufficient. I also met some great people and made connections that will last for a long time. "
Laura T Trinity University
"I learned that I could rely on myself and trust myself through anything. It was worth all the hardwork I have done my entire life, to get into college and then get into my study abroad program. I'd do it all over again if I could. "
Kristen Franklin & Marshall College
"I learned what it is like to go somewhere and do something completely out of my comfort zone. Being solely dependent on myself. It was valuable."
A student Trinity University
"My experience abroad gave me the skills and confidence to know that I can travel and survive in another part of the world, in another language, and do so comfortably and self-sufficiently."
A student Vassar College
"I learned to be braver and to go outside my comfort zone more. It was definitely worthwhile."
Nadira Berman University of Pennsylvania
"I learned about the Australian culture, how to live on my own in another country, I received a lot of professional and academic exposure abroad, and I had the chance to travel. "
A student Brandeis University
"I learned so much from this experience abroad. I learned about myself as well as New Zealand and the States. I learned about the New Zealand night sky as well as quite a bit about the political system (perks of being there during the election season!) I learned about myself and my values since I needed to be aware of so much ..."
Stasia Kuske Franklin & Marshall College
"How to make my own connections, even though I knew no one."
A student Vassar College
"The program was very worthwhile and allows students to gain more independence while pursuing relevant coursework. "
A student Johns Hopkins University
"I learned a lot!"
A student Brandeis University
"I learned that being open and receptive to new experiences, and fighting against the urge to be closed off when faced with an unfamiliar situation, is the best thing that any student - or human being - can do for themselves. "
Rachel G Wesleyan University
"I gained so much personal growth. I learned how to be independent and strong, and how much I could accomplish if I set my mind to something! I also learned how amazing other cultures are and how excited I am to see more of the word and travel. "
Lilli S Butler University
"I gained a much broader knowledge of the Spanish language, especially in its everyday conversational use, as well as a greater appreciation for the trials of navigating a new culture. I think having the new perspectives that result from the experience make it worthwhile."
A student Northwestern University
"I learned a lot about my limits, my skills, and gained a lot of confidence -- in addition to Spanish skills!"
A student Wellesley College
"The best 3 months of my life. Made the greatest friends ever and would love to live in London after graduation. "
Trent Sorenson Middlebury College
"I learned a lot about myself and the world's great diversity and gained a global understanding and increased self-confidence. "
A student Wellesley College
"Gained a lot of insight into several different cultures, learned how to be independent in a different country, yes. "
Simran M Trinity University
"While I'm not sure I can truthfully say that I actually learned how to cook (I did do it, but I'm still not great), I did learn a lot about being independent and how to survive in a completely foreign environment - and yes, it was completely worthwhile and I would do it again in an instant. "
Alejandro Esparza Trinity University
"Learned a better understanding of problem solving"
A student Trinity University
"It was definitely worthwhile! I learned a lot about how to face challenges on my own, and how to welcome new experiences instead of shying away from them. Living on your own in a foreign city is daunting, but makes you such a better person at the end!"
Emily Glovin Brandeis University
