"It was worthwhile, But I feel like I should have given more thought to which country I would visit. Although I loved Italia, I didn't "fit in" with the culture, nor did I want to. Wine isn't my thing, and neither was fashion or pasta. I should have considered going to a country where I could experience more of my own interests (..."

"I believe Italian culture, being old and set in their ways, was one of the hardest cultures for Americans to adjust to. The first 2 weeks were awful. However, I pushed through and adjusted to that strange culture, by myself. It taught me about myself and made me a stronger and better person. I learned to relax and adapt and it w..."

"It was worthwhile, yes. I learned that cultures besides our own are very different, including certain actions and such that might differ from the way we do things here in America. I gained quite a new understanding for food, culture, and language and Italy."

"It changed my life. Despite the struggles in receiving my grant in time, I have lessons that only time in my lovely Chile could have given me. "

"I bettered my German 5 fold and I learned a lot more about other cultures and myself honestly. Yes, it was worthwhile. "

"I learned a great deal of German, which was my main reason for going on the trip. I also gained a ton of memories with a bunch of wonderful people, that I hopefully will never forget. It was very worthwhile."

"I only wish I could have gone to an actual Austrian university so that i could have met Austrian professors in my field. I learn a lot about the Swabian dialect of German and the culture in Swabish Austria. I gave me new insight into the different cultures within German-speaking countries and gave me ideas for future research ..."

"Being in Istanbul made me realize how a predominantly muslim country can have a successful secular government and be in a position to be a world superpower. The culture is beautiful, and though many want Turkey to be "Islamisized," no change needs to come to how Turkey conducts itself. If anything, they need to refine old polici..."

"I wad really just wanting to see the cultural differences between latin americans. This gave me a better understanding of the culture that I may use in my career."

"I'm definitely going to study abroad again. The other students on my trip is what made China one of the most wonderful experiences. We explored our host, city, had adventures and became really close. The program itself was mediocre but my teachers were great. I would highly recommend going to China, just not with KIIS."

"As an undergraduate, I spent a year abroad so I was well aware of the benefits of studying abroad and this program was no different. I was amazed at how much of my college French I was able to use, and I learned a ton of new vocabulary and phrases along the way. Living abroad changes your perspective and helps you to grow as a p..."

"I learned about myself and about the world outside of the US. It was an amazing experience and I am interested in returning to study or teach. I've been able to incorporate my time there into real world connections in Middle School Social Studies' lesson plans."

"I believe the program was very worthwhile. I gained an entirely new perspective on myself and my own culture, learned much from my interactions with others, and believe myself to have matured through my travels. The credit from the classes I took is a nice bonus."
Alexander B Bellarmine College
"Absolutely! I brag about the places I have been and the classes I take all the time. "

"It was a very costly dream come true. Costly in so many ways."
Austin W Murray State University
""Was your study abroad experience worthwhile?" This just seems like such a strange question, because it feels so silly. My experience abroad did three very distinct things for me: First, it allowed me to pursue a line of education that was not offered at my undergraduate university. While abroad, I was able to take courses ..."

"Because I had never traveled abroad before my trip, this was a big stepping stone in my life. This trip taught me that I am much more courageous than I had thought, and that I have the ability to adapt much more quickly than I ever imagined. It certainly was a struggle at times to adjust to living with a new family and roommate,..."

"Spain helped me grow up. I was in a new culture that I knew almost nothing about, and I still had to get an experience out of it while learning and having a good time. I was also thousands of miles away from anyone I knew well, so I had to throw a social aspect into that. While I never really acknowledged any of these things ..."
