Study Abroad with PRESHCO
"I learned how to deal with different and uncomfortable situations and I gained a better understanding of Spanish culture and life. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to spend time in Spain and learn about topics from a different perspective. "
A student Wellesley College
"I learned that one of the best ways to grow as a student, traveler, and person in general is to challenge yourself and embrace discomfort. The experience went by very quickly, so it also taught me more how to live in the moment."
A student Oberlin College
"I learned about my American identity and have a deeper appreciation for the US and my family. I think it was significantly worthwhile to be abroad, but I wish that I did have to endure some of the demoralizing aspects of my specific host family. However, I appreciate "home" so, so much more now. "
A student Wellesley College
"Language skills, more confidence in my Spanish, yes it was worthwhile"
Elizabeth Powell Smith College
"I learned more about Spanish culture and politics. "
Miranda Jacobs Smith College
"I learned a lot about Spanish culture, and my Spanish improved immensely!"
A student Colby College
"I learned the vastness of human perspective and understanding. One thing in spanish for a spanish speaker from latin america can mean something very different to a spanish speaker from here."
A student Smith College
"I learned so much about experiencing other cultures and how people lived. It was incredibly worthwhile to immerse myself in a culture that wasn't my own."
A student Smith College
"Studying abroad was definitely worthwhile experience!! I really liked how Cordoba is like a large town so you can get a city feel but there's also still events, festivals, celebrations that I'm not sure if you could find in other larger cities in Spain. But I think in Cordoba there's more of a community feel than larger cities, ..."

"Being abroad has taught me where my comfort zone ends and what circumstances will lead me to step out of it."
A student Wellesley College
"I learned a lot about the type of person i am, how to budget, how to travel to countries where i dont speak the language, how to step outside my comfort zone and be ok with it, how to respect others’ differences, how to enjoy life."
A student Smith College
"Spain is a whole new world, it was worthwhile for me and enjoyed it a lot but it was nothing like I expected "
A student Smith College
"I really came to Spain to get a different experience and that I did. "
A student Wellesley College
"I improved at Spanish which was my primary goal. I need to keep working on it to reach the level of fluency that I want (I believe I could communicate any idea I want and understand what people are talking about but there are areas where I could have a better vocabulary like in the kitchen and I still make some grammar mistakes ..."
A student Wellesley College
"I made a lot of meaningful relationships with my host family and with other students that are apart of my program, that I didn't necessarily know from Smith."
Aminata Khan Smith College
"Improved my Spanish, met new people, and traveled to new places. It was definitely worthwhile. "
Ambar Garcia Smith College
"I learned that work doesn't have to be your life. The people here focus so much more on the relationships that they build, and work is just something they do to sustain themselves. "
A student Amherst College
"I gain more vocabulary and built new friendships with the colleges involved in the PRESHCO program. Yes, they are all Americans which is great because I can see them next semester and we would have this experience to share. I've learned that I have different views and I think differently than my host parents. I've had mentally s..."
A student Smith College
"I think I picked up a lot of Spanish and improved my listening skills. I would say this program was definitely worthwhile. "
A student Smith College
"I learned that I can do it. I had a lot of doubts about being able to study abroad in a country whose first language is not English. I am glad to have proven myself wrong. I have also learned that traveling and putting yourself out there (sometimes in uncomfortable social situations) is so rewarding at the end of the day. Finall..."
Isabella Aldana Smith College
"Aside from improving my Spanish, I learned a lot about myself and what I value as an individual while abroad. I would definitely do this program and have this experience over again because I think that the changes I've noticed in myself are truly wonderful. I also have come to appreciate living in the United States. I realize no..."
A student Smith College
"I loved traveling and the experience of doing that on my own gave me a lot of confidence. I felt so brave and I was able to go out of my comfort zone and do things like sing in Karaoke and just feel like I could do anything. I feel a lot more sure of myself and of course that makes the whole thing worthwhile "
A student Wellesley College
"I learned to adapt to a new culture by making friendships with local students, having meals with my host family, and listening attentively to the news. "
A student Wellesley College
"I was able to improve my Spanish skills significantly (especially a stronger confidence to speak, writing speed, and comprehension ability) I also felt more of a confidence of existing in a city alone. Sounds weird, but Cordoba is a safe city and small city, so it feels nice and welcome to go to a cafe and drink tea alone."
Sabina Unni Wellesley College
"I gained more confidence in myself and my Spanish ability. It was definitely worthwhile."
