University of Georgia is a program provider offering 4 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad abroad programs in 6 countries such as Italy, Costa Rica, The United Kingdom, and Belgium.

Study abroad UGA programs, managed by the University of Georgia’s Global Education Office (StudyAway), consistently rank among the nation’s leaders for participation. According to the 2024 Open Doors report, Georgia places seventh overall and third for short-term study abroad, and more than 3,000 Bulldogs earn academic credit overseas each year in over 70 countries. The portfolio includes 130 faculty-led Maymester, summer and embedded courses, 100 partner-university exchanges, two year-round residential centers—UGA at Oxford in the United Kingdom and UGA Cortona in Italy—and a growing menu of internship and field-research placements on six continents. Whatever the discipline, from environmental science in Costa Rica to supply-chain management in Seoul, programs are designed so every major can stay on track for graduation while building global fluency.

Affordability stays front of mind: the Office of Global Engagement awards over $580,000 annually through the Passport Initiative and other scholarships, and existing state and federal aid usually travels with students. Comprehensive support services—one-on-one advising, peer mentors, pre-departure orientations, international health insurance and 24/7 emergency assistance—guide participants from application to re-entry. Identity-based resources ensure first-generation, rural and under-represented students feel empowered to go global. With flexible program lengths, robust funding and a team of dedicated advisers, UGA StudyAway turns the world into every Bulldog’s classroom.
