Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

It wasn't similar to my degree at all in the secondary. I taught world music for 10 weeks, and I had no knowledge of that. In a sense, I should be here with a General Music degree, but I have an instrumental music degree and I barely touched a single instrument besides some hand drums and keyboards. I don't feel like this internship prepared me for what I want to teach for the rest of my life. For the primary/elementary age, I feel like it was exactly appropriate, but again, my degree isn't to teach the young ones, but it was good experience (I only had 3 45 min lessons with this age group a week) in case I wanted to.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The higher administration was great, but typically they don't know much about the way the music department was run. They helped to involve me in the school, but not in music.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Teachers from England. It was the only living accommodation available to me besides living in a hostel. I wish I could have had more opportunity to practice my spanish.

* Food:

I'm practically vegetarian and there were many options and always plenty and quite good quality and free lunch through the host school!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

None.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I didn't have an experience, but the school would have helped me for sure!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • Being in Spain!
* What could be improved?
  • I would love it if the CT could have been informed better about how to help me learn.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? The national curriculum in the secondary level of music is not the same in the UK and American system
