What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned about how people in the Amazon live on a day to day basis and their material culture. It was worthwhile because before I would not have even guessed how people live there, but now I have a better understanding and respect of the Amazonian people and culture.

There’s was a lot to learn about and the environment was hard to live in but everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and understanding.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? About 40-50 soles a day
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? There will be cheap places and expensive places and the cheap places are just as good as the expensive ones, so go to the cheaper places for food and items.

Do you have any tips/advice on the best ways to practice the language for future study abroad participants? Always practice before you leave so you have a better understanding of how to pronounce words and do not be afraid to practice talking in the foreign language while you are on the trip because that is the best way to learn and practice.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish that I knew a little bit more Spanish so I could connect more with people there.
