Eugene Lang College - The New School for Liberal Arts
University Information
Many Eugene Lang College students spend a semester, academic year, winter or summer term abroad. Regardless of your academic program, your education will be enhanced by study abroad, and your post-graduate pursuits will increasingly require an understanding of the international context for constructive citizenship.
With proper research and planning, a student could study almost anywhere in the world. Eugene Lang College offers semester exchange programs in 12 destinations through 6 international partner universities, in addition to 8 faculty-led programs during winter and summer breaks each year. We also have dozens of pre-approved, affiliated programs and providers for study abroad, and students can always present new opportunities for approval.
Semester exchange programs are offered with American University of Paris (Paris, France), John Cabot University (Rome, Italy), University of Amsterdam (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), King’s College London (London, United Kingdom), and Sarah Lawrence College International Programs (Cuba, France, Italy, Peru, and United Kingdom). Eugene Lang College also offers the opportunity to study at Parsons Paris with a professor and student cohort from Lang. Recent international study opportunities offered during winter and summer include Argentina, Cambodia, China, Germany, Guyana, Italy, India, Poland, Rwanda, Scotland, South Africa, and Tibet, and more.
Study abroad or study away from The New School is normally undertaken in the sophomore or junior year. Students should consult with their faculty advisor and academic advisors in advance. Those who have declared a major should also consult with the chair or director of their major program. Although choosing a program and preparing for study abroad is largely self-directed, support and guidance are available throughout the process. Eugene Lang College has a designated advisor who helps students incorporate their educational and personal goals in the decision to study abroad.
Study abroad and exchange opportunities are constantly evolving. For up-to-date information, including deadlines and prerequisites, contact a study abroad advisor at langstudyabroad@newschool.edu.
