"Lots of friends, a new perspective on American influence abroad, a deep interest in the War on Drugs and its affects abroad, appreciation for Andean culture and concepts, and a deep understanding of the current Bolivian government and its policies. "
Lucia C Middlebury College
"I learned a lot of math and a lot about personal independence. Absolutely one of the best trips I've ever taken."
A student Middlebury College
"I learned how to compose a short story, Czech Culture and Cinema and that life exists outside of Middlebury. It was worthwhile because I also got to interact with students from a different University. "
Demetrius B Middlebury College
"I learned that I can do anything. There is so much more outside of this bubble."
Esme V Middlebury College
"For me it was so worthwhile because while I was familiar with Western Europe, I knew nothing about eastern Europe. I am also very interested in the transition from communist economies to a free market economy so I learned a great deal into that that I would not have been able to learn at Middlebury."
A student Middlebury College
"The experience at my senatorial internship was invaluable. "
Conor S Middlebury College
"Yes, how to live on my own"
A student Middlebury College
"I learned how to live on my own, interact with people from all over the world and how to have a more global perspective."
A student Middlebury College
"Absolutely. It was incredibly challenging and I was in over my head. I went to the largest city in Europe, where I speak zero of the language entirely alone without any sort of program. In retrospect, it was arrogant and stupid to do it that way and paralyzed me in the beginning. I had done the same in Argentina a few years back..."
A student Middlebury College
"I gained experience living in a city environment, and visiting a European country--two things that were very new to me. I also was able to get a glimpse of worldviews other than those shared by Americans."
A student Middlebury College
"The overall experience was amazing. I was exposed to an entirely new schooling system and challenged in a way I have not though possible. I have been pushed out of my comfort zone and now I believe my comfort zone has grown. I have not been home in a long time and while it makes me miss and appreciate the things at home, I k..."

"CIEE admin is awesome, Amsterdam is the best city in the world, embrace your independence and thrive."
A student Middlebury College
"On top of the usual "experiencing a new culture" line, I met some of the nicest and most interesting people I have ever come across. I lived in a dorm unlike anything we have in this country, where 150 people felt like a single family. It was a seamless transition into that family unit and I felt at home from Day One. I couldn't..."
Joe M Middlebury College
"Prague was an awesome break from Middlebury. I got to spend four months in an amazing city with an amazing group of friends, and I saw a ton of Europe while I was at it. I also learned how to live independently."
A student Middlebury College
"It was great. Absolutely worthwhile. "
A student Middlebury College
"I got to travel a lot, cook for myself, and I learned how to really be alone. Teach through fire I guess."
A student Middlebury College
"I learned a lot about being independent and I think I grew personally. Dublin is an incredible city and I am grateful that I went. It was an incredible opportunity to see a whole new part of the world."
Jackie K Middlebury College
"It was my home country, so this question is not really relevant to me. However it was good to be with my parents and girlfriend, and work and study at the same time."
A student Middlebury College
"Studying abroad in a foreign country, especially in a city, required me to be so much more independent. Traveling through so many different parts of Australia, as well as New Zealand's south island, was a great experience too. Definitely go to New Zealand and Cairns (near the reef and rain forest) if you can, they were probably ..."
Maxwell W Middlebury College
"Definitely worthwhile. Learned about all different cultures from living in Prague and traveling around Europe. "
A student Middlebury College
"Not much, classes were easy and I had a lot of down time to do other activities. Australia wasn't exactly a big cultural change for me. "
A student Middlebury College
"I learned a lot about my place and my country's place in the world."
A student Middlebury College
"Learned about Eastern Europe"
Jack W Middlebury College
"Learned to be more independent; choose to spend more time on my own. "
A student Middlebury College
"I learned a lot about being independent and prioritizing. Although I learned so me of this at Middlebury, living on your own in a foreign country really teaches you how to take care of yourself and manage your time/priorities. It was definitely worthwhile I learned a ton and I wish I could go back! "
