"I made tons of friends from all over the country and the world. I got to immerse myself in Irish culture and see which stereotypes were true. I shattered some stereotypes of Texans, too. I came home with the desire to travel my own country and see the fun things it in too. It was definitely worthwhile and I wish I could go back."

"Well, this is broad. I learned a lot about myself, socially. I'm more sure of the types of people I do and do not want to associate with. I also learned that flexibility goes a long way in a country like Perú: everything from the transit system to the service sector is informal and requires a bit of aggressiveness to get what yo..."

"My spanish definitely improved and I learned how to be street smart. Living in Buenos Aires gives you an appreciation for the little things. "

"I learned how to communicate better with people whose beliefs and values are different from my own in a positive manner (and I even became friends with some of them!) I also learned more about what I value in other people and what I like to see when I travel and/or live somewhere. "

"I learned that no matter where I am, everything will be okay and I will make friends. Staying in my comfort zone is alright, but trying something entirely different opened the door to an experience that completely exceeded my expectations. "

"I learned about the British education system at the university level. I also learned about European culture and history. Yes, study abroad was a worthwhile experience."
Qiongqiong Y The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned how to be self-reliant while traveling around a foreign country. I learned about other cultures I hadn't experienced before. It was definitely worthwhile!"
Jennifer B The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned to be more independent; I navigated around a city and country all by myself, learned to use various public transportation, cooked for myself, handled accommodation issues on my own, and explored culture and history by making friends. I also delved into Scottish culture and history through my courses at university which..."

"I learned more about international cooperation that anywhere else. I learned history and I learned local stories. I learned about the political system and now know it like the back of my hand. It was more than worthwhile. I became a very different person in the best of ways because of this program and I would not change it for a..."

"Because I spoke so little Japanese when I arrived in Japan, I learned to quickly adapt to new situations, even when I did not entirely understand what was happening. I learned to befriend people from a very different culture than my own and to appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of each culture. I obviously gained a great de..."

"It was an eye opening experience in so many ways. It was definitely worthwhile! "

"Learned a lot obviously (impossible to list it here) especially about cultures (e.g. Swedes don't look nice, but they are very nice), weather, transportation, and food (Swedes coffee/tea drinking habits "fika" is awesome, it's a great habit), I think. Something worth saying: befriend locals. It's very tempting to spend all your ..."

"I had th opportunity to practice my Arabic though I spoke a different dialect than Darija, the Moroccan dialect. I even managed to pick up a little French. Given the cheap transportation costs, I was to travel extensively throughout Morocco and see some amazing historical and cultural sites. I even got to go to swim in the Atla..."

"I gained 5 new best friends, I learned SO much about a new culture, I got to scuba dive on a world wonder, and made countless amazing memories! Definitely worthwhile. "
Aly S The University of Texas at Austin

Ashley J The University of Texas at Austin
"My experience abroad was definitely worthwhile - being in a different country and having the chance to travel was priceless and an experience I'll always remember. My particular bad experience with the program made me realize I need to research more into programs before I choose one, but I don't regret the whole trip (just the p..."

"Living in South East Asia was a contextualizing, transformative, and enlightening experience. I was exposed to a part of the world I've has little exposure to. I got to eat some of the best food in the world and got to travel to some of the most beautiful parts of the world and got to experience living in on of the most modern ..."

"I really enjoyed my time during exchange. Brighton is a beautiful city and plenty to do! I have made friends from all over Europe, which I was not expected! There are at least 40% of international students in the UK at their universities so it is very hard to just "hang" with locals. I have learned the different teach styles and..."

"I encountered situations that I had not previously had to deal with in my life, and was forced to sort things out on my own with the people and resources around me. I met people who gave me an entirely new perspective on my life and whom I plan to stay in touch with long-term. It has changed my perspective on life and has made m..."

"From this experience abroad, I grew personally and professionally. I have witnessed a wide range of cultures and the differences in them. It is very interesting to learn about the locals and their traditions. I became more accepting and respectful of the different cultures that I was exposed to. Not only that, I was able to see ..."
