"I studied in Angers, France for 9 months, and I can say without any hesitation that it was by far the best year of my life so far. I would recommend my program, because it not only helped me experience living in a different culture but also I met so many wonderful people from all over the world and learned more about life and wh..."
Becca V University of Maine at Orono
"I learned to deal with disappointment! No, but seriously, I don't take any of our simple freedoms for granted anymore. I've also really learned to be patient, as everything took longer over there. It was worthwhile on a language level, but the experience was not exactly enjoyable. "

"I feel like in the first month alone I learned so much and I also think that this a good experience for a person to really decided whether they are passionate about Marine science or not. You get to learn more about yourself as well as other people. "
Daria B University of Maine at Orono
"The first reason it was worthwhile was because I learned so much Spanish. The second, because I had never lived outside of Maine and it was amazing to see how other people live. And thirdly, I was becoming bored of UMaine and almost regretting my choice to come here but going away made me appreciate where I am from so much more...."

"I learned a lot and it is hard to even sum it up in a paragraph. It was worthwhile especially for experiences that you cannot even explain to others. This is one of those things that you just gotta do. Go through with it and find out for yourself. Everyone's experience is different and each one equally worth doing. "
manda.hayes.5 University of Maine at Orono
"I learned that I do not travel well and can't really be alone in unfamiliar places. I also learned that I can't be too far from my family or the ones I love (I was very homesick) "

A student University of Maine at Orono
"So much. I learned new ways of understanding people given that I didn't always speak a language in common with the people I met (other than German, which we were learning). I learned most of all that people are always going to be people, and that we are all more or less the same no matter where we grew up when you get down to ou..."

"I learned a lot about myself while I was abroad and I felt that I gained a lot of experience in being more independent. While you're abroad, you can't just call your parents and expect a lot of help from them if you have a problem. For me, this was the first time I had to make my own travel arrangements for big trips, navigate l..."
